Dear friends! We present to your attention t-shirts featuring original calligraphy by Dmitry Beresnev! ENSO KEN series ( 円相 剣 ) The Enso symbol is considered sacred in Zen. It is usually created in a single continuous brushstroke. The circle may be open or closed, with each style representing different things. Drawing enso is a precise art that must be executed in one flowing motion. The drawn symbol cannot be altered. Enso is drawn so that "the powerful brushstroke never returns exactly to the point where it began." Enso is one of the most popular symbols in Japanese calligraphy — it is said that a calligrapher's character is fully revealed in how they draw enso; only one who possesses a pure and whole spirit can create a true enso. Many calligraphers practice enso for hours each day, drawing it daily as a kind of "spiritual diary". BUSHIDO series ( 武士道 ) 礼 (rei) — respect, reverence 仁 (jin) — compassion, mercy 勇 (yu) — courage 誠 (makoto) — sincerity 忠 義 (chu-gi) — loyalty 義 (gi) — justice 名誉 (meiyo) — honor 礼 (rei) — Respect True warriors have no reason to be cruel. They have no need to prove their strength. Warriors are respected not only for their strength in battle, but for their relationships with others. A warrior's true strength shows in hard times. An idea drawn from Confucianism: a warrior should be perfect not only on the battlefield. He was expected to be a role model for all people. Modesty in speech and gesture, concern for others, empathy — these are the samurai's attributes. High standing in the social hierarchy obliged him to live with dignity and always follow convention. Any behavior showing poor manners or rudeness was seen as a sign of weakness and self-doubt. 仁 (jin) — Compassion, mercy Compassion and mercy. Intense training makes a samurai swift and strong. He develops power that he must use for the common good. If fate does not grant him such an opportunity, he finds it himself. 勇気 (yuki) — Courage, bravery To understand this commandment, we need to analyze the kanji that make up the word. 勇 means courage, heroic valor; 気 means mind or spirit. Thus "yuki" means courage and valor, which manifest not only in a warrior's deeds but also as the natural state of his spirit. 誠 (makoto) — Honesty, sincerity If a samurai says he will do something, he must do it. Nothing in this world can stop him. He should not give his word, should not promise. The mere fact that he said it is already a guarantee of fulfillment. To speak and to do are the same thing. Notably, the character is made up of "speak" (言) and "become" (成) — that is, "what was said is what was done". 義 (chu-gi) — Loyalty and duty The first character in "chu-gi" means loyalty. The second means duty. So it is not merely righteous conduct, but devotion from the heart. Like meiyo, it is a virtue pertaining both to the samurai's deeds and to his inner convictions. 義 (gi) — Justice Be always honest in your actions. Believe in justice — not other people's, but the one within you. For a samurai there is no gradation in judging honor and justice; there is only black or white, truth or lie. Any honest person with a pure soul should not fear the truth. 名誉 (meiyo) — Honor For a samurai there is only one judge who can judge his honor — himself. The decisions he makes and carries out reflect his true "self". You cannot hide from yourself! (Calligraphy by D. Beresnev) For orders and inquiries: https://m.vk.com/id4593065
